Trunks open, owls restless… it’s almost time for Hogwarts

It always sneaks up on me… one minute it’s midsummer, the next you’re staring at a half-packed trunk wondering how in Merlin’s name everything is supposed to fit.

 

 

I just pulled out my robes and realised they still smell faintly of smoke from last year’s Charms mishap (note to self: learn the proper Scourgify this term). Books are stacked in an uneven tower on the floor… Standard Book of Spells, Grade Whatever looking smug as ever. Quills rolling everywhere. Owl hooting like I’ve ruined its life.

 

You can almost feel the hum of excitement though… Diagon Alley is crammed with families right now, Flourish & Blotts running out of stock, Madam Malkin fussing over hems. Someone probably dropped a whole bag of Bertie Bott’s in the street, because why not add chaos to the mix.

And then there’s that moment: double-checking you’ve got your wand tucked safely away. Doesn’t matter if you’re a first-year or seventh… that’s the one thing you never want to leave behind.

 

Anyway… 1st Sept… it’s all about the dash to King’s Cross, but tonight and the next few days? It’s the ritual of folding (badly), forgetting (definitely something important), and pretending you’re actually going to sleep.

 

So, what’s in your trunk this year? Anyone sneaking in non-school-approved contraband (looking at you, self-stirring cauldron owners)? Or are you the type who packs neatly a week in advance and just sits there waiting?
