LEGO Harry Potter Is Coming to Nintendo Switch 2… and There’s a New Way to Relive the Whole Adventure

Harry Potter fans with a Nintendo Switch 2 have another reason to get excited this autumn, because LEGO Harry Potter Collection is officially making the jump to Nintendo’s new console. Warner Bros. Games, TT Games and The LEGO Group have confirmed that the collection will arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 on 16 October 2026, bringing both of the original LEGO Harry Potter games together in one package.

 

 

For anyone who remembers playing the LEGO games when they first appeared, this is a pretty nostalgic announcement. The collection brings together LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1 to 4 and LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5 to 7, meaning the entire story from Harry's arrival at Hogwarts through to the final battle can be played on one console. It is basically the complete Harry Potter story, but with everything turned into LEGO, which somehow makes Voldemort slightly less terrifying.

 

The games cover all seven books and the eight films, taking players through some of the most recognisable locations in the Wizarding World. Hogwarts, Diagon Alley, the Forbidden Forest and plenty of other familiar places are all part of the adventure, while players can switch between Harry, Ron, Hermione and a huge selection of other characters.

 

The Switch 2 version is particularly interesting because it gives a much loved Harry Potter game another chance to find a completely new audience. The original LEGO Harry Potter games have been around for years, but there is something quite fitting about seeing them return during a year when Harry Potter itself is experiencing another enormous revival. The original film is celebrating its 25th anniversary, the new HBO series is arriving at Christmas and now the LEGO version of the story is getting another release too.

 

There is also something rather charming about the timing. A lot of the current Harry Potter news is understandably focused on the new television series, but the Wizarding World is clearly still trying to keep the older games and experiences in the spotlight as well. For people who grew up with LEGO Harry Potter, this could be one of those releases that brings back a lot of memories.

 

And if you've never played them before, you're getting a pretty enormous Harry Potter game in one collection. You can explore Hogwarts, learn spells, solve puzzles, collect characters and work your way through the entire story without having to buy the two games separately.

The release is currently set for 16 October 2026, with the collection available to pre order through the Nintendo eShop.

 

Personally, I think LEGO Harry Potter has aged surprisingly well. It takes a story that can sometimes get very dark and turns it into something much more playful without completely losing the important moments. Seeing characters like Snape, Dumbledore and Voldemort recreated as little LEGO figures is still brilliant, and there are plenty of ridiculous moments that you simply wouldn't get in the films.

 

It also raises an interesting question for longtime fans. With the new HBO series introducing Harry Potter to another generation, could games like this end up becoming just as important for younger fans who discover the Wizarding World for the first time?

I wouldn't be surprised.
