  4. I have a small collections of Funko POP figures, amd Funko Rock Candy figures. I used to get them a subscription service but stopped due to plans to move and not knowing how much space I'd have to put them! I do hope to add to my collection as well. I keep most of them in their boxes for the time being, until I have space to display them, however Harry, Ron and Hermione that aren't in boxes were the first figures I got so they are out on display! I love the Funko Rock Candy figures the most, as they are a bit smaller but more detailed, however there aren't as many figures in that collection as there are in the Funko POP figures!

  7. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone vs Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone So why did the name change? It dates back to when the rights were sold for the first book: Scholastic Corporation bought the U.S. publishing rights for what was then known as Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, forking out a comparably high $105,000 for the privilege. It was changed by the American publisher, Scholastic, because it thought American children wouldn't want to read a book with "philosopher" in the title. Eventually, the author suggested Sorcerer's Stone, and that's how the book is known in the U.S. market where Scholastic had the rights. Other quotes from around the world; "The publisher thought "Sorcerer" would better convey the magical tone of the series. So uninformed children would know it's about a wizard, not a philosopher." " Because apparently they thought Americans wouldn't know what a philosopher's stone is..." Rowling later admitted in a web chat for BBC Red Nose Day in 2001 that she regretted the decision. When asked if it bothered her that the name of the book had been changed in the U.S., she wrote that "they changed the first title, but with my consent. To be honest, I wish I hadn't agreed now, but it was my first book, and I was so grateful that anyone was publishing me I wanted to keep them happy ..." What name do you prefer?

  10. The DARK ARTS FRIDAY 28th SEPTEMBER - SATURDAY 10th NOVEMBER Image: WB Studio Tour | https://www.wbstudiotour.co.uk Throughout the Hallowe’en season, fans of Death Eaters, daring duels and Hallowe'en feasts are invited to explore the darkness of the Wizarding World as we host a special feature dedicated to the Dark Arts. Returning this year, the iconic Great Hall set will be decorated with over 100 floating pumpkins, just as seen on screen in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Created by Head Propmaker on all the Harry Potter films, Pierre Bohanna, the pumpkins are modelled on those found in Hagrid’s pumpkin patch in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and are hand-carved by the Prop Making Department so no two are alike. The Great Hall tables will also be laden with a Hallowe’en feast of red apples, pumpkins and cauldrons of lollipops. After learning wand combat moves in an interactive experience with Wand Choreographer, Paul Harris, you are invited to take part in an exciting live duel with Death Eaters in the Studio Tour’s backlot. Demonstrating how a crowd scene like the Battle of Hogwarts would have been created during filming, you will test out your newly learned wand techniques as you are directed through a battle with Death Eaters who are storming the Hogwarts Bridge. As part of the feature, the original Death Eater costumes from the film series will be on display allowing you to see up close the intricate details of the embroidered robes and hand-painted masks. During production, He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named's followers each wore a unique mask, handmade by the Prop Making Department that was designed to reflect their personality. In addition to this, vats of slimy Troll snot, buckets of dribbling drool (of the three-headed dog variety) and pools of silvery unicorn blood will be showcased in the Tour allowing you to get hands-on and see exactly how the slime and goo was created. You will also be able to walk down a darker Diagon Alley as the lights are dimmed and the music becomes more foreboding on the wizarding shopping street. Dark Arts will run from Friday 28th September 2018 – Saturday 10th November 2018. Tickets must be pre-booked and all extra features are included in the ticket price. Book Tickets at https://www.wbstudiotour.co.uk/tickets

  12. The Harry Potter Timeline 1980 - 2016 ~ Books and Films ~ ~ Story Timeline ~ Jul 1980: Harry Potter was born to James and Lily Potter on July 31, 1980. His father was from a wizarding family, and his mother muggle-born. Oct 1981: On October 31, 1981, when Harry was one, Lily and James were killed in an attack by Voldemort. Harry survived, with only a lightning-shaped scar on his forehead. Hagrid took the baby, meeting Dumbledore outside the Dursley's home. Young Harry was left with the Dursleys. Jul 1991: Immediately before Harry's 11th birthday, letters began arriving via Owl Post. The Dursleys were horrified and went into hiding. Hagrid rode his flying motorcycle, rescuing Harry and taking him to Diagon Alley for his school supplies. Sep 1991: On September 1, 1991, Harry went to Platform 9 3/4 to catch the train to Hogwart's. He met Ron and Hermione for the first time. Jun 1992: At the end of his first year at Hogwart's, Harry defeated Voldemort, in the guise of the Defense of the Dark Arts professor, Quirrell. This was Harry's first encounter with He-who-shall-not-be-named. Aug 1992: In August 1992, Ron, Fred, and George picked up Harry in their father's flying car. Harry and Ron later used the car to get to Hogwart's when Dobby blocked their access to Platform 9 3/4. Sep 1992: The students began their second year at the beginning of September 1992. Dobby feared for their lives and blocked their access to Platform 9 3/4; however, the students took the flying car, crashing in the woods. They would later serve a detention in the woods. Feb 1993: In February 1993, Harry defeated Tom Riddle and the basilisk in the tunnels beneath Hogwarts. He destroyed Tom Riddle, later to become Voldemort's diary. Readers will later learn this was one of Voldemort's horcruxes. Jul 1993: In the summer of 1993, Harry fled the Dursleys. He learned, for the first time, of the existence of Sirius Black, and was later warned away from him by Arthur Weasley. Sep 1993: In September 1993, Harry and the others began their third year at Hogwart's. Dementors were on campus because of the escape of Sirius that summer. Jun 1994: In June 1994, using the time-turner Dumbledore gave Hermione, Harry and the others free Sirius, as well as the hippogriff, Buckbeak. Sirius leaves Harry a letter providing permission to go to Hogsmeade. Sep 1994: Harry's fourth year at Hogwart's began in September 1994. Hogwart's was anxiously awaiting the Tri-Wizard Tournament. Oct 1994: On October 31, 1994, the Goblet of Fire provided an additional competitor's name, Harry Potter. Harry began to prepare for the competition. Jun 1995: At the end of the Tri-wizard Tournament, Harry fought Voldemort. Voldemort ordered the other student from Hogwart's in the Tournament, Cedric Diggory killed by Peter Pettigrew. Aug 1995: Following Harry's unauthorized use of magic to save his cousin Dudley from dementors, Harry is force to attend a disciplinary hearing at the Ministry of Magic. He is cleared of wrongdoing on the basis of Dumbledore's testimony. Sep 1995: Harry began his fifth year at Hogwarts in 1995. By this time, Dumbledore had re-established the Order of the Phoenix, headquartered in Sirius Black's family home. Jun 1996: Harry and the Order of the Phoenix prevent Voldemort and his associates from acquiring the prophecy in the Department of Mysteries. Sirius Black is killed in the Battle of the Department of Mysteries. Sep 1996: Harry began his sixth year at Hogwart's in September 1996. Dumbledore began to prepare for his death and Draco Malfoy supported the Death Eaters. Jun 1997: In June 1997, Severus Snape killed Albus Dumbledore. Snape acted at Dumbledore's request, as Dumbledore wanted to preserve Draco's soul. Draco had already been ordered to kill Dumbledore by Voldemore. 1997: After Dumbledore's death, Harry, Ron and Hermione sought out the horcruxes to destroy Voldemort. Conditions continued to worsen with Voldemort in power. May 1998: The Battle of Hogwart's brought conditions in the magical world to a head. There were multiple deaths, including Snape, Lupin, Tonks and Fred Weasley. Hermione returned to complete her education, but many of the others, including Ron and Harry moved on to their professional lives. 2007: In 2007, Harry was appointed head of the Aurors Department in the Ministry of Magic. The other students in his circle at Hogwart's were equally successful. 2016: Harry and Ginny, Ron and Hermione and others watch their children leave for Hogwart's.
  13. Discussion: Harry Potter Films - Unimportant parts you wish could've been added or deleted scenes So I'll start it off by not including Winky! However, we do see her and Dobby very very briefly in The Goblet Of Fire, if you're wondering where? I made a whole topic about 'Things you may have missed in the Harry Potter Films'. Winky, dear old Winky; Crouch's House elf. Important as she is, especially with Crouch Senior to the dark mark cast at the Quidditch Cup in The Goblet of Fire film, plus the whole 'drunk winky' fiasco. Of course lets not forget Horrified Hermione learning that she and the rest of the students are being served by house elves, which prompts her to start (S.P.E.W) Society for Promotion of Elfish Welfare, roping in Harry and Ron to help her. You can also join the S.P.E.W Club Like this post if you think #Winky should've made it in the film! What bit from the books do you wish made it to the films, answers by Owl Post please! (Please don't use Errol as he might get lost and confused....)
  14. Things you may have missed in the Harry Potter Films When adapting a book to a film there tends to be a lot of things that are missed out and Harry Potter is no different. As time went on the Harry Potter books became longer and the film makers along with JK Rowling had to make choices of what to trim down. While taking this in to consideration, it's much easier to place things in the background; the so called 'easter eggs' or things that are hidden in the background which gives fans something to hunt for, or details that are hidden away and flashed on screen for just a few seconds. For those who are really looking, we've broken down the top 16 of 'Things you may have missed in the Harry Potter Films'. If you liked this post, why not share it with friends and family and across social media? Starting off with Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone There's a scene briefly mentioned in the book, Harry needs a new uniform to attend St Brutus's Secure Centre for Incurably Criminal Boys. So rather than going out and buying the uniform needed the Dursleys do the only sensible thing they die Dudley's old uniform gray. This is only briefly mentioned the book but if you look in the back of this scene in the Philosopher's Stone you can actually see petunia dyeing the clothes in the background and it's a nice little touch and an ode back to the book. The leaky cauldron is Harry's first step into The Wizarding World but did you notice the sign outside seems to be subtly blacked out and it only becomes visible if a wizard walks by? Harry's scar first begins to burn when Snape is looking at him leaving Harry to believe that Snape is evil and is behind the burning of the scar but in fact his scar is actually burning because we are seeing the back of Professor Quirrell head who is actually When Lord Voldermort (He who should not be named)! Did you spot that McGonagall's name is actually next James Potter's in the trophy case for Quidditch? Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Ron's robes in the Chamber of Secrets are slightly more worn in than the rest of his classmates insinuating that their hand-me-downs. Did you spot the hardcover copies of Harry Potter books in this scene and Chamber of Secrets! Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire In Quidditch World Cup in the Goblet of Fire which briefly shows Dobby the house-elf and actually another character cut from the film's if you look closely you can actually see Winkie! Harry Potter and Order of the Pheonix Did you spot the Starbucks logo in the black family tapestry on the wall. Did you realise when Professor Dolores Umbridge causing havoc over the new Hogwarts rulesshe becomes more and more powerful her clothes slowly get darker and darker? Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince In the half-blood Prince when Dumbledore actually shows Harry's first memory of meeting Tom Riddle was a photo of the cave where he would hide one of his Horcruxes actually in the same scene there's a close-up of seven stones placed on the windowsill before his change into Voldemort and splitting his soul into seven pieces. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 In the Battle of Hogwarts it's actually Oliver wood on a the broom at the beginning of the sequence heading into battle. Here you can actually see Trelawney's long flowing hair briefly showing up on screen during the Battle of Hogwarts. The giant who's wielding a giant axe in the scene isn't wielding an axe at all it's actually a broken ring from the Quidditch pitch. When Snape is defending himself from McGonagall in the Great Hall not only does he block her spell but he shows his true allegiance subtly he redirects her spell towards the Carrows and just before he flees he actually stops and removes their wands from them. When Lord Voldermort (He who should not be named) loses more and more of his soul in Deathly Hallows you see his eyes are more sunken in and he develops veins and lesions on his skin which are subtly reminiscent of the cracks in his Elder Wand. In Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows book the last line reads the 'The scar had not pained Harry for nineteen years. All was well'. This was also the last shot of the film, Harry's scar is almost completely faded. If I've missed any other fantastic easter eggs, please do let me know!

  16. Japan Plans On Opening Harry Potter Cafes For a limited time, two Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts themed cafes are heading to Japan. The Tokyo cafe will be located at 1-1-3 Nishi Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo Odakyu Shinjuku Milord 5F, while the Fukuoka cafe will be at Sumiyoshi 1-2-22 Hakata-ku Canal City Hakata 5F. 17. Hi everyone! Though it isn't new, I just found this article. :) I'm no where near any of these places, but are any of you able to visit them (or have visited them already)? https://www.roadaffair.com/harry-potter-destinations/ 25 Harry Potter Destinations You Can Visit in Real Life Robin Gilmore December 24, 2017 J.K. Rowling probably couldn’t have imagined how successful the Harry Potter series would be, and even though the series has ended, many people are still totally obsessed with Harry Potter. The Elephant House, Scotland Grab a coffee and a good book so you can enjoy the coffeehouse where J.K. Tupungato / shutterstock.com 3. Leadenhall Market, London London’s most beautiful Victorian market was the location of some of the Diagon Alley scenes. Leadenhall Market also houses the shop used as the entrance of the Leaky Cauldron from the fourth movie in the franchise, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Nick Fox / shutterstock.com 4. The Jacobite, Scotland Book your ticket on the Hogwarts Express! This train runs from Fort William to Mallaig, and will take you across the “bridge to Hogwarts”. Goathland Station, England Does Goathland Station not ring a bell? That’s because Warner Bros. transformed it into Hogsmeade Station. Lacock Abbey, England Walk the footsteps of Harry Potter and all the students of Hogwarts as you explore the grounds of Lacock Abbey, which stood in for Hogwarts in two of the Harry Potter films. Used for multiple Hogwarts interior scenes throughout the series, you may remember it from the Mirror of Erised scenes, as well as the location of Professor Snape and Professor Quirrell classrooms. You can book the J.K. Rowling Suite and a package that includes a private tour and Harry Potter-themed cocktails starting at £2,500 per night. Matthew Storer / shutterstock.com 21. Glencoe, Scotland Many of the outdoor scenes from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban were filmed in beautiful Glencoe. Though the sets have been removed, Glencoe was home to Hagrid’s Hut and the Bridge to Nowhere, and HP fans can still take in the breathtaking sceneries we enjoyed so much during the movie. GlennV / shutterstock.com 22. Seven Sisters Country Park, England You’ll recognize Seven Sisters Country Park from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The famous scene from this site happened when Harry walked up the hill and found the boots that transported him and the Weasleys to the Quidditch World Cup. David Gonzalez Rebollo / shutterstock.com 23. Loch Shiel, Scotland Loch Shiel was one of the two gorgeous lakes used for Hogwarts Lake. It made an appearance in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, where Buckbeak dipped his feet in the water while Harry rode on its back and again in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince where Harry and Hermione looked across Hogwarts Lake from the Astronomy Tower at the end of the movie. Kiev.Victor / shutterstock.com 24. Piccadilly Circus, London Think back to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 when Harry, Ron, and Hermione had to leave Bill (Ron’s older brother) and Fleur’s wedding when they learned Death Eaters were after them. That scene where they were running through the West End was filmed in Piccadilly Circus. Andreas Gerhardinger / shutterstock.com 25. Steall Falls, Scotland This gorgeous waterfall is the second-highest of its kind in Britain. It was also the location of the Triwizard Tournament where Harry battled the Hungarian Horntail dragon in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. We know it’s still hard to grasp that the owl never delivered your Hogwarts letter. But a visit to any of these destinations will make you forget about that as they bring the magic of Harry Potter back to life. I would like to help everyone who has a question, but I don't have time to respond to you all. Since I am seeing a lot of the same questions asked, I'll try to answer those here: 1. The map doesn't show up when I download it. This is because you have extracted the world folder into a new folder. The folder in your saves folder should be called "By The Floo Network". If it is called "Harry Potter in Minecraft" instead, simply open this folder, and drag the folder inside out into the saves folder. 2. What is the Resource pack and the shader pack? I have made the Resource pack myself, and it's custom built for the map. If can be downloaded from the Planet Minecraft link in the description. The Shader is Sildur's Vibrant Shaders. 3. How do I install the map? There is a guide if you click the link in the description, which explains how to install it. 4. The book for teleporting around doesn't show up in my inventory. The book only shows up, if you are playing in the version 1.12 or later. The mechanism for giving the player the book in not compatible with 1.11.2 or older updates. 5. Is there any mods required: No. The map has been built and functions in vanilla Minecraft. 6. Does the map cost money? No. The map is free, though you can choose to donate. 7. Is it an adventure map with quests? Not yet, but I am currently working on an expanded version of the map, with quests, as well as new locations, (The rest of the ministry of magic, post-battle Hogwarts and much more!) It will also add some improvements to the locations already built 8. How long did it take to build the map, and how many people worked on it? We are five teenagers, four of us from Denmark and one from America, who've worked on the map on and off over a period of several years. The vast majority of the map was however built by just one person, with the rest helping with some builds and some of the technical aspects of the project.
