  3. Harry Potter author JK Rowling took to her Twitter and shared a Harry Potter fan video showing how Harry Potter would do his laundry. Recently, JK Rowling shared one such video by her fan on social media. In the video, the fan has shown his take on how Harry Potter would do his laundry. In the video shared by JK Rowling, two fans are seen playing with a washing machine. The two boys are playing Hedwig’s theme from Harry Potter on the controlling buttons of the washing machine. They have also used the front loading door of the machine to play the tune. In the Harry Potter video, one of the boys is seen wearing glasses and a cape. At the end of the video, the boy wearing cape and glasses is seen getting behind a small cupboard under the stairs as the other one goes upstairs after locking the cupboard’s door. The unique and hilarious take on Hedwig’s theme by these two boys is winning the internet. In the caption of the video, it is mentioned that the video took almost 5 hours to achieve perfection. JK Rowling talked about this in caption after retweeting the video. She said that it was definitely not a waste of 5 hours. Several fans commented that these boys would be in for a beating if their mom ever found out about this. A lot of fans praised them for their creativity and efforts. Source:republicworld
  4. The last gift I got was the Black Family Tapestry Poster by my other half (thank you!) (shamelessly taken from my other post) Poster Size – 69 x 50 cm (27.2 x 19.7 inches) What was the last item you have purchased or was gifted?
  5. For example: Once Hermione doubted that Dumbledore isn’t very loving towards house elfs but it was later on cleared by Dobby.
  6. What are your biggest plot holes and errors in Harry Potter that have always bothered you? For example: Moody puts Harry’s name in the GOF under a fourth school, so he’s the only competitor for that school and has to be chosen. However, the second Dumbledore read the slip of parchment with Harry’s name, he should have seen whatever fake school Harry was entered under.
  7. Even though owls are beautiful, I really am a cat person. I probably would have taken a cat to Hogwarts, spending my days off, evenings, and early mornings with them snuggled up. What about you? What kind of pet would you have taken to Hogwarts?

  10. A great little find! Almost 10 years have passed since the last Harry Potter movie was released, and our lives have not quite been the same since. Yet the magic that J.K. Rowling created never dies, as we continue to watch the movies, and read the books, over and over, and each time it is as magical as it ever was. However, I hope this book can surprise even the biggest fans out there, with hundreds of facts that you never knew about the world of magic. Not only facts which are mentioned throughout the series, but information revealed by J.K. Rowling after the books were released, which will change your perspective on many of the characters, and provide you with an inside into J.K. Rowling’s thoughts and ideas whilst writing the novels. https://amzn.to/3btJ6m2 Harry Potter - The Magical Book of Facts: Over 250 facts you probably didn't know! - Kindle Edition now Free @ Amazon Description This book contains over 250 of the most amazing facts about Harry Potter which are entertaining, interesting, funny, and sometimes you can't quite believe! Dudley Dursley

This is a character that is easy to hate. He's spoiled, selfish, and is just an all around brat. However, I've been thinking about a bit. Was he really that way by nature or was he just acting that way because of how he was raised? Harry had been treated badly by his aunt and uncle from the start. Dudley, being an impressionable youngster, saw this and decided that Harry was bad because of how the two adults he trusted the most acted towards Harry. They showered Dudley with love and gave into his every wish, even when he was throwing a tantrum so he saw them as loving parents. He was a violent bully, because his dad encouraged it either by modeling it with Harry or just using the whole "boys will be boys" argument. When you're spoiled it's probably hard to handle yourself rationally when being told "no," even by peers. However, throughout the series, Dudley picks on Harry a little bit less. Like, a smidge each book. We don't see too much of him in the sixth book, but then in the last book he surprises everyone by telling Harry he's not a waste of space. Is it possible that as he grew up, he realized that how Harry had been treated was wrong? That maybe Dudley wasn't too bad of a person by nature, and that the only reason he was horrible when he was little was because that's what he was seeing at home? Just curious as to what your thoughts are. I'm not his biggest fan (or even at all), but it seems he matured.

    Harry Potter POP figures collection!

I have a small collections of Funko POP figures, amd Funko Rock Candy figures. I used to get them a subscription service but stopped due to plans to move and not knowing how much space I'd have to put them! I do hope to add to my collection as well. I keep most of them in their boxes for the time being, until I have space to display them, however Harry, Ron and Hermione that aren't in boxes were the first figures I got so they are out on display! I love the Funko Rock Candy figures the most, as they are a bit smaller but more detailed, however there aren't as many figures in that collection as there are in the Funko POP figures!

    Harry Potter roots in mythology

One of the many things I find really cool about Harry Potter is J.K.'s subtle nods to mythology. Hermione is named after Hermes Fluffy basically IS Cerberus McGonagall is based on Athena, or her Roman counterpart Minerva Rubeus Hagrid is based on the kind giant Hagrid Rubes. He was banished from Mount Olympus, but still took care of the animals. Argus Filch is named after the giant with 100 eyes Argus Panoptes
  15. I was Tweeted at today and asked; ' who are Hogwarts’ English and maths teachers? As far as I can tell, they never get taught the basics, so where do they learn them?' This made me wonder if children who attend or graduate from Hogwarts have an education that can be used in the Muggle world? Do students learn English and Maths? As Tweeted here: With some research we can see that Arithmancy is taught but that's the study of the magical properties of numbers, not maths. How do younger wizards and witches get educated in basic skills like reading and writing? We see very little of this in the books, although obviously the kids entering Hogwarts have been trained in some of these basic skills or they wouldn’t be able to handle the classes the face at Hogwarts. Given the very medieval nature of the wizarding world, I suggest that most kids are trained either by their parents in basic reading, writing, and math, or are trained in small one-room schools with a relatively few children and one teacher. This training would cover the basics and enough pre-magic theory to produce kids who can function in wizarding society. Currently taught at Hogwarts Herbology = Botany/Gardening Care of Magical Creatures = Zoology/Veterinary Science Arithmancy = Arithmetic/Mathematics Potions = Chemistry/Cookery/Pharmacology Astronomy = (Astro)physics/Mathematics/Geography (of the Heavens) Charms = Latin/Drama/Kinetics DADA = Physical Education/Chemistry/Physics Divination = Mathematics/Psychology/Philosophy/Lunacy Ancient Runes = History/Logic/Mathematics/Linguistics Transfiguration = Physics/Biology (bioenergetics)/Physical Education History of Magic = History/Tolerance (of boredom) Flying = Physical Education/Driving Lessons Muggle Studies = History/Sociology/Technology etc. I'm very interested if anyone does know or has their own ideas on the matter. We'd love to hear your comments.

  17. Based in the world of Harry Potter during Voldemort's first rise to power, Andromeda, Bellatrix and Narcissa are the three sisters of the most noble and ancient house of Black. In their Hogwarts years, they were accomplished duellers, competitive to the last. Now, the sister's choices will soon decide their ultimate fates. Kelsey Ellison of Ellivision is a highly dedicated UK based content creator, who is a huge Harry Potter fan. This campaign will hopefully help bring this film to life after 3 years of thought put into the idea. Creating a film based around the Harry Potter series is a huge passion and dream of hers! Let's make magic happen! SISTERS OF HOUSE BLACK FULL RELEASE NOW LIVE SISTERS OF HOUSE BLACK The story of the sisters Bellatrix Lestrange, Andromeda Tonks and Narcissa Malfoy. It will explore the characters from the time of Voldemort's first rise to power and will show how the choices they made impacted their lives and their relationship as sisters. The Black family valued their pureblood status highly and thrived to up keep their name. Going against the family values meant certain banishment. Andromeda, marries a muggleborn, Ted Tonks; and in her sister's eyes, betrays them. One of the sisters, not understanding how this happened, seeks help through a pensive and looks back on their lives and the events leading up to the "betrayal". Will this give them answers or just tear the sisters further apart? Expect a film full of drama, magic and unexpected twists that will make you want to watch it again! The main reason why the creator is so passionate about this film is because J.K Rowling created three incredibly fascinating and complex characters who's stories have never really been told. Plus, Kelsey was brought up in a "three sisters" dynamic, so feels she can draw a lot of inspiration. As a huge Harry Potter fan, she would love to see more about them and create something that other fans would also enjoy too! Harry Potter look at this very realistic digital painting of a black Hermione in her school uniform and a S.P.E.W badge Sophia Canning, a recent RISD graduate, took to Twitter on August 12 to show off her Hermione artwork. Painted in Photoshop, the image could easily be mistaken for a photograph. It features Hermione with dark skin and big, curly black hair, dressed in a Gryffindor tie with a SPEW button on her shirt — and, naturally, a huge pile of books in her arms. 21. Discussion: Harry Potter Films - Unimportant parts you wish could've been added! So I'll start it off by not including Winky! However, we do see her and Dobby very very briefly in The Goblet Of Fire, if you're wondering where? I made a whole topic about 'Things you may have missed in the Harry Potter Films'. Winky, dear old Winky; Crouch's House elf. Important as she is, especially with Crouch Senior to the dark mark cast at the Quidditch Cup in The Goblet of Fire film, plus the whole 'drunk winky' fiasco. Of course lets not forget Horrified Hermione learning that she and the rest of the students are being served by house elves, which prompts her to start (S.P.E.W) Society for Promotion of Elfish Welfare, roping in Harry and Ron to help her. You can also join the S.P.E.W Club
  22. A first edition hardback of Harry Potter and The Philosopher's Stone and two paperback first editions of the same novel are expected to fetch thousands. The books were saved from landfill in 2008 by a Buckinghamshire teacher who spotted them in a skip, as the school was clearing out its library in preparation for an Ofsted inspection. (Image: PA) Valuers said hardback copies of the book, of which only 500 were printed in 1997, were as "rare as hen's teeth". Of the original publishing run, about 300 were sent to schools and libraries, and contained various printing errors corrected in subsequent versions. The hardback is expected to fetch between £8,000 and £12,000 while the two paperbacks have a guide price of £2,000 to £3,000 each. The books are going under the hammer, along with other Harry Potter lots, in an online-only auction being held by Hansons, of Derbyshire, at Bishton Hall, Staffordshire, on May 21. Explaining how she came by the books, the seller, a 65-year-old grandmother who did not wish to be named, said: "It just seemed awful to throw them away, so I picked up about five Harry Potter books. "I thought they might be useful for my children or grandchildren in the future. "It was better than seeing them go to waste. "At the time, I had no idea they were of any value and neither did the school. "They'd been well read and the school always ensured its library was pristine for Ofsted inspections. " She put all the books in the loft, until her son mentioned to her they could be valuable. "He investigated and a London business offered £4,000 for one of the paperbacks there and then, but they just went back into the loft," she added. "Last year we were watching a TV interview with Charles Hanson, owner of Hansons Auctioneers, about the sale of a Harry Potter first edition which sold for thousands at auction and decided to get in touch," she said.
