The Wizarding World Listens Anew – Full-Cast Harry Potter Audiobooks!

So this is happening… all seven Harry Potter books are getting full-cast audiobook adaptations. Not just one narrator this time — more than 200 actors, plus Dolby Atmos, original music, and actual sound effects recorded to make Hogwarts feel real.

The release schedule is monthly starting with Sorcerer’s Stone on Nov 4, 2025, running through to Deathly Hallows in *May 2026.

 

 

Cast highlights (the big ones people are talking about):

• Hugh Laurie as Dumbledore
• Matthew Macfadyen as Voldemort
• Riz Ahmed as Snape
• Michelle Gomez as McGonagall
• Cush Jumbo as the narrator

 

 

For Harry/Ron/Hermione:
• Books 1–3 → Frankie Treadaway, Max Lester, Arabella Stanton
• Books 4–7 → Jaxon Knopf, Rhys Mulligan, Nina Barker-Francis

Fun detail… Arabella Stanton is also cast as Hermione in the upcoming HBO series, so her voice will line up across mediums.

 

Hugh Laurie gave a great quote:

“I’m honoured to have been trusted with the keys to Albus Dumbledore… deeply conscious of previous drivers… Jim Dale and Sir Stephen Fry.”

Then he went and referenced Yeats while talking about John Lithgow (the HBO Dumbledore). Peak Laurie.

 

 

 

Why it’s different:

Instead of one voice carrying the story, you get layered performances and a full soundscape. Imagine Peeves bouncing around in stereo while McGonagall snaps at him, or Hagrid crashing into a pumpkin patch in surround sound. It’s closer to an audio play than a straight reading.
