JK Rowling is set to release 4 new Harry Potter eBooks - Continue your Hogwarts Education!

Continue your Hogwarts education. This summer, J.K. Rowling's Pottermore Publishing will release four short e-books!

 

Rowling says these new installments will “take you back in time once again to learn about the traditional folklore and magic at the heart of the Harry Potter stories,” providing insight on various subjects learned at çç, such as Charms, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Potions, Herbology, Divination, Astronomy and Care of Magical Creatures.

 

“Prepare to delve deeper into the rich history of magic (be it our own Muggle history, or the magical world created by J.K. Rowling) with this new series of eBook shorts, inspired by the British Library exhibition and its companion books, Harry Potter: A History of Magic,” the Pottermore announcement reads.

The series will be illustrated by London-based artist Rohan Daniel Eason, known for his surreal and spooky style.

 

 

Book 1: A Journey Through Charms and Defence Against the Dark Arts

Potterheads will instantly recognize the four new titles as combined names of required courses taken by protagonists Harry, Hermione and Ron at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. A Journey Through Charms and Defence Against the Dark Arts, available June 27, instructs readers on the history of transformation spells, werewolves and love charms. A Journey Through Potions and Herbology, also available June 27, looks at how ordinary plants can be transformed into medicines, poisons, drugs and magic potions.

 

Book 2: A Journey Through Potions and Herbology

A Journey Through Divination and Astronomy, available July 25, examines fortune-telling and stargazing in the past and present. (Those last two are already the No. 1 Amazon bestsellers in botany and astronomy, respectively. Eat your heart out, Steven Hawking.) The fourth book, A Journey Through Care of Magical Creatures, will be available Aug. 22 and delves into giants, hypogriffs, dragons and all the wondrous species that only exist in myths (or do they?).

 

Book 3: A Journey Through Divination and Astronomy

The Journey Through… series is adapted from last year's "audio documentary" Harry Potter: A History of Magic, which was expanded from the 2017 print book of the same name, which itself was a companion book to the British Library exhibition Harry Potter: A History of Magic. The e-books include new drawings from illustrator Rohan Daniel Eason, along with "notes, manuscripts and charming sketches" from the History of Magic exhibition. The Pottermore website describes the digital series as "a chance to absorb the colorful characters and curious incidents of the real history of magic in a more compact form — perfect for the train or whatever Muggle transport you prefer."
