A New Year message from Professor Dumbledore for 2026

 

 

My dear students…

Another year turns its page. Quietly. Whether we are ready or not.

 

The castle notices these things. The staircases shift a little more thoughtfully tonight. The portraits stay awake longer than usual. They know what it means to begin again.

A new year always asks the same question. Not how clever you are. Not how powerful. But who you choose to be when yesterday no longer holds you in place.

 

Some of you will make grand resolutions. Some of you will make none at all. Both paths are perfectly acceptable. Magic rarely announces itself with trumpets. More often it arrives as a small decision made on an ordinary day.

Remember this as 2026 begins… it is our choices that show what we truly are far more than our abilities. Each hour gives you another chance to choose wisely. Or bravely. Or kindly.

 

Mistakes will follow you. That is only natural. Do not be afraid of them. Even the most brilliant witches and wizards have tripped over their own feet now and then. I myself have stumbled more than I care to count.

 

Be gentle with yourselves.
Be patient with others.

 

Time is a curious thing. It rushes when we want it to slow. It lingers when we wish it gone. But it always moves forward… and so must we.

As the new year begins… lift your eyes. Trust a little. Hope a little more than last year. And remember that no matter what awaits you beyond these doors… Hogwarts will always feel like home.

 

Now off you go. Welcome the year. And please… do try not to set anything on fire before breakfast.
