    It's been reported that Warner Bros. is going to adapt to film the theatre version of "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child," after securing the rights. With current rumors circulating it looks will be getting a sequel to the "Harry Potter" series of movies which ended with The Deathly Hallows - Part 2. With the original cast will be back to star in it - Harry, Hermione and Ron will be back together.

    So far, all we know is that Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson are set to return.

     

    The Cursed Child is set 19 years after the end of the final Harry Potter movie and follows Harry, Ron and Hermione's children. The show recently opened on Broadway in New York and tickets have been in high demand, just as they were in London. The first Harry Potter movie was released in 2001 with Daniel Radcliffe in the titular role.

    I don't like this rumour. I think that mainstream media have jumped on some "lazy journalism" to fuel the rumours further, based off of fans excitement; despite it already being confirmed by sites like Pottermore that it isn't a movie. What I mean by "lazy journalism" is that similar style to "millenials have killed ...", where there's no fact or substance to it, just clickbait headlines, and poorly written articles that get hits. 

    However, in the future there may be the potential for a Cursed Child movie. I don't see it just yet, nor do I want it to happen so soon. Furthermore, to have the original trio reprise their roles would only further add to the controversy with Black Hermione, and could cause more problems than it's worth [at this point in time].

    I think that Warner Bros buying the rights to Cursed Child is similar to that of Disney buying Star Wars and Marvel, where they own the distribution (and sometimes production) rights but not the films or characters themselves. Yes, I know that WB technically own the characters anyway, since they appeared under the company first, but the CC story itself is separate from the original canon, and I think for now it will stay that way. It's financially better for WB to  have the rights to the play, but as long as it's making money on its own and isn't close to being a cash cow, I think it should [and probably will] remain a play. At least for the foreseeable future.
