From the moment Lupin taught Harry the Patronus Charm in Prisoner of Azkaban I have been fascinated by the idea of a corporal Patronus. It reminded me very much of the concept of spirit or power animals, which I firmly believe in.

According to the Harry Potter Wiki

"...The Patronus represents that which is hidden, unknown but necessary within the personality. When a human confronted with inhuman evil, such as the Dementor, they must draw upon resources he or she may never have needed, and the Patronus is the awakened secret self that lies dormant until needed, but which must now be brought to light. Patronuses take forms that their casters might not expect, for which they have never felt a particular affinity, or (in rare cases) even recognise. Every Patronus is as unique as its creator and even identical twins have been known to produce very different Patronuses.

The unusual witches and wizards who produce a Patronus that takes the form of their favourite animal is an indicator of obsession or eccentricity. "

As we see in the instance of Tonks, a Patronus can change if the person‘s circumstances change drastically or dramatically (I would  count falling deeply in love as that). I have made the same experience with spirit animals. As a teenager mine was a lynx and it fit me perfectly. Today I am guided by either the wolf (most days) or the bear (when things go tits up).  My favourite animals are cats and dolphins, and those (apart from the lynx) have never made an appearance.

There are certain animals that show up when necessary, reminding me to take a break, pay attention to something or shift my focus. But those are only visitors, they stay for a day or a week and then move on.

Does anyone here have a spirit or power animal? And I really do not mean a favourite animal or an animal that you feel a special connection to. I mean animals that show up persistently, either in your daily life or in your dreams.

Just curious.
