Goblet of fire: Book vs Film

I’ve currently reading the HP series properly for the first time despite having all the books since I was a child. I’m on the fourth book, Goblet of fire, and I’ve made this thread to discuss my opinions on the book compared to the film. For me and many others that I’ve seen in polls, the fourth film is the least favourite and so I am trying to find out why that might be. Having seen the film before reading the book, I was expecting the book to be not all that impressive. However, I have been pleasantly surprised because the book is amazing and one of the best in the series. So it’s a shame the film fails to capture what the book did so well. 
 

 

Dumbledore 
I’ll start off wait a relatively minor and obvious comment. So far reading the books, I completely agree with the sentiment that the Richard Harris version of Dumbledore is the Dumbledore of the books. The calmness that we associate with Dumbledore is in stark contrast to Dumbledore in the fourth film. I’m going to skip with the obvious general loudness and shouting in the fourth film but what is more striking is his facial expressions. Take a look at this, go to 2:26. 
 

 

He makes this expression of frustration as to say, “for goodness sake.” That’s just not the demeanour we would expect from Dumbledore. To Michael Gambon’s defence, from what I have read it sounds like it was the new director who wanted to change Dumbledore to be loud and angry. And I still liked Michael Gambon particularly in the 6th and 8th films and he appears in probably the two most emotional scenes in the series. As I say, this is a relatively minor comment. On the positive side, there were some hilarious moments of this loud version of Dumbledore.
