How is anybody in the wizarding world ever falsely accused of anything ever?

 

 

Yes I am refering to Sirius and the supposed murder of Peter Pettigrew. In a world where Mind Reading, Time Travel Devices and Truth Potions are a thing how is Sirius wrongly convicted. Even if he did beleive that he killed Pettigrew, he shouldn't have been attributed as one of Voldemorts biggest supporters smh.
