As seen in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire™, the celebration of the Triwizard Tournament saw every detail of the Great Hall covered in shimmering silver, dripping icicles and sparkling snow. Groupon Members will get a taster of this incredible set dress as the top section of the Great Hall will be transformed with snow-covered Christmas trees, icicles and an orchestra of magical instruments.
In addition to the Yule Ball decoration, The Great Hall will be lined with Christmas trees and the long dining tables of the Great Hall will be dressed as they were for seasonal feasts at Hogwarts with prop versions of roast turkeys, hams studded with cherries and even Christmas puddings surrounded by real flames.
As part of the Hogwarts in the Snow feature, many of the iconic sets housed at the Studio Tour will receive a festive makeover. The Gryffindor Common Room and Boys’ Dormitory will be decorated with their original festive props and the Hogwarts castle model will be transformed with a layer of filmmaking snow.
While exploring the attraction, guests will also be able to enjoy experiences that have been specifically added for Groupon members like enjoying a special demonstration courtesy of John Richardson, Special Effects Supervisor from the Harry Potter film series. They’ll get the chance to learn wand moves and can ‘fly’ a broomstick like a member of the cast in the Studio Tour’s green screen experience.
Groupon members will also enter the set of Gringotts Wizarding Bank as part of the Studio Tour’s biggest expansion to date that opened earlier this year. We unveil rare books, manuscripts and magical objects from the British Library’s collection, capturing the traditions of folklore and magic which are at the heart of the Harry Potter stories. Marvel at original drafts and drawings by J.K. Rowling and illustrator Jim Kay, both on display for the first time.
See the gargantuan 16th-century Ripley Scroll that explains how to create a Philosopher’s Stone. Gaze at Sirius in the night sky as imagined by medieval astronomers. Encounter hand-coloured pictures of dragons, unicorns and a phoenix rising from the flames.
Celebrate the 20th anniversary of the publication of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone with this extraordinary new addition to J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World.
We visited the Harry Potter tour this week, if you're looking to go here are a few things to look forward too!
Just outside the Library
As we make our way through into the tour it's self
Exhibits donated by JK Rowling which shows some of her original manuscripts, sketches and artwork by Jim Kay. Also included is medieval material on alchemy and magic, all organised by the different classes at Hogwarts.
Here are few examples of JK's work and Jim Kay!
We'd recommend visiting Platform 9 3/4 shop at King's Cross Station which is a 10 minute walk. You can have your photo taken while trying to get through to Platform 9 3/4 (but don't tell the muggles!).
Overall, the experience was great and it was amazing insight into JK's mind. Interactive demo's for the kids to play on and make potions, while the adults can learn about the history which was used for the making of Harry Potter and The Wizarding World.
