A Christmas message from Professor Dumbledore

 

 

My dear students…

Christmas has arrived at Hogwarts once again. Quietly. Kindly. With the sort of magic that needs no wand at all.

 

The fires burn a little warmer tonight.
The corridors listen more closely.

 

You may think this season is about feasts and presents and sneaking an extra tart before bedtime. Those things help… I will not deny it. But Christmas has always been about something older. Deeper. A reminder that light returns even after the longest night.

Remember this… help will always be given at Hogwarts to those who ask for it. Even now. Especially now.

Some of you feel full of joy. Others feel a little lost. That is quite all right. Both belong here. Magic has a habit of revealing itself most clearly when we sit still long enough to notice it.

 

Look after one another.
Choose kindness when it costs you nothing.
Choose courage when it costs you everything.

 

And if you should happen to find yourself alone this evening… rest assured that you are never truly alone. You are surrounded by stories. By memories. By people who care for you more than you may yet understand.

 

After all… happiness can be found even in the darkest of times… if one only remembers to turn on the light.

 

Now go. Eat well. Laugh loudly. And for heaven’s sake… do not let Mr Weasley near the Christmas crackers.
