Hi, everyone! I'm Amanda!

Okay, so a bit about me. I got into the Harry Potter series a bit late, actually. I was in college before I read my first Potter book, and the funny part is, I had no interest in the series at all until my dad got me the first two books for my birthday. I was hooked after that...completely and utterly hooked.

Anyway, some of my hobbies (other than reading) include watching horror movies, listening to heavy metal, crocheting, surfing the Net...good stuff like that. I have two dogs, Ritzie and Xena, and both are absolute cuddle bugs. Some things I'd like to do in the future include learning Russian and German, taking a cruise, and doing as many diamond paintings as I can possibly handle.

That's enough for now. I can't wait to see y'all around the forums!

Good morning @Firefox, and a very warm welcome to the forum! It’s nice to see an influx of new people join.

Very much like yourself, I too was late to the series and I got hooked. It wasn’t until POA was released on DVD that I finally picked up the books.

Are All 8 Harry Potter Films Coming To NETFLIX?
Calling all witches and wizards, on January 15th it's time to go back to Hogwarts

All eight films will appear on the platform on 15th January, for all of its subscribers in Australia & NewZealand. The news was announced via Twitter with the simple message: “ Calling all witches and wizards, on January 15th it's time to go back to Hogwarts ".
Unfortunately the series will only be shown on Netflix Australia & Netflix NewZealand ONLY - Sorry USA, Canada and sorry to the rest of us in the UK too!

It’s not the first time Harry Potter has been rumored for release on Netflix. The last big wave came in October when Netflix in France announced it would be streaming the franchise in November 2018. Many news outlets didn’t look very hard into the detail here and decided that everyone is getting the franchise. The main reason as to why the Harry Potter series isn’t coming to Netflix is simply down to licensing rights. In the US, UK and Canada the rights are most likely either unobtainable or far too expensive for Netflix to purchase.

I suppose I should have put this under the Daily Prophet category because the title sounds like one Rita Skeeter would write. But its too late now, so I am just going to dive in.

      Draco Malfoy.

I think that readers who view  his character have polar opposite opinions on him. Either 1, he is a bad-boy dreamboat, and they want him to fall in love with their little hearts because of his smirk and his raw good looks. Or, on the total other hand, he is a death eater, and truly a terrible persona and he didn't really deserve a redemtion arc.

Of course, that is dramatizing both ends of the spectrum of Draco Malfoy. What we have to consider is the facts, which we can see in the books.

Draco was defenitely manipulated and groomed for Slytherin- and beyond. Lucius Malfoy was not a good father. It think that is easy to be seen. He fed his son his own opinions and views from the day he was born. His son grew up hearing racial slurs such as "mudblood" and talk about how muggle-born witches were inferior to pure-blood witches and wizards. Draco grew up being told that he had to get into Slytherin- and we can only assume that any other house would have been a disgrace to the family, as he was the only child of the Malfoy's. Draco grew up being told by his family who he was meant to be, what he was meant to be, how he was supposed to act, etc.

However, that is no excuse for his behavior. We learn from our parents, yes, even if they teach us the wrong lesson, but as a person you also have to do the right thing- even if it isn't right in his parents view. A great example of this is Sirius. Sirius came from the same kind of household as Draco did- but he was different. He didn't like their ideology and loved what his friends in Hogwarts talked about and how they acted. All other parts of Sirius aside, he did the right thing. Draco did not. Granted he was around people of the same ideology of him in Slytherin, he did not have to have the same ideology as they did. Draco was a bully. He bullied Harry relentlessly, along with other students. He was not a nice guy. He tried to get Hagrid sacked from his job countless times. He always made drama for Harry in the press, in the school, with gossip, he was racist towards Hermione, etc.

So here we are at a crossroads with his character- He went out of his way to be nasty, but he had also been groomed from Birth to be this person. So we are faced with the question- does he deserve to have a redemption arc (not that it is truly up to us to decide, but  lets just see where this question goes)?

Draco didn't kill Dumbledore. He couldn't do it, he tried for the entire year (and ultimately failed because of all the half-attempts), but when he came face-to-face with Dumbledore, where it would have been easy to kill him. He could not kill him. That's the truth. Severus Snape had to do it, despite that this was the plan from Dumbledore- that doesn't really matter too much. Draco doesn't want to be where he is, he doesn't want to be a death eater, but there is no other way for him to have his family safe, and not taint the family name.

And Draco didn't want Harry dead. It's pretty imaginable that Draco knew that was a real possibility, but he didn't want Harry dead. Draco lied when he couldn't tell if it was Harry or not, with the charm on Harry's face making him all puffy and swollen. He could have been rid of his life-long rival, but he didn't. Draco even stopped Crabbe from firing a curse that would kill Harry.

So this may leave you confused now- do we like Draco, or not?

I think Draco deserved a redemption arc. He was forced to be a certain kind of person by his parents, and he conformed to that role. However, he did that willingly, and he could have not conformed to the role. He could have not acted the way he was supposed to, and he could have been a better person.

      So my answer- kinda.

A topic for us all to think about. Was Sirius a good father figure, or did he see Harry as a version of, his friend, James Potter. Was he a good guardian or was he more interested for Harry to be his buddy.

I have seen evidence for both sides so I am intrigued to know your opinions.

      Hey loves!

Hi, I'm new to this forum, and loving looking through posts and reading people's comments on my own! I would love to get to know you all better and keep on reading these lovely posts!

So a few things about me:

My favorite character is Harry Potter (I have a sneaking suspicion that we be perfect for each other if I was in the Harry Potter universe haha), I love his character beyond the whole reason that he is the main character. I love how he is complicated, and is a relatable character. He is a real teenager with real situations that happen as a teenager, rejection of a crush, issues with friendship, puberty (mood swings), etc.  Beyond just the magical circumstances.

I am also a huge fan of Ron, I just think he is so relatable.

I am also not quite sure which house I belong in. I used to say Ravenclaw, then Hufflepuff, then Gryffindor. But, I'm starting to believe I am a Gryffindor, because your house is not only based on what your personality is like, it is also based on what you value. And I value bravery and courage to a high extent, even if I am not dare-devilish on the day-to-day, I am brave when it is important. I am bold when it counts.

My favorite movie is the Goblet of Fire. My favorite book, currently is Order of the Pheonix.

Right now I am reading the Goblet of Fire, and then I am going to find me a copy of Order of the Pheonix. I'm about 100 pages away from the ending of Goblet of fire.

Anyways, that's it for me. I just wanted to say a few little things to introduce myself, just as one does on the Hogwarts express. Peace Out!

      Hi everyone,
I'm new here but I've just seen a Harry Potter CAR for sale on ebay that is ending soon so wanted to tell you all about it. I wish I could afford it but I can't so thought I'd share it with you.
It's the Ford Anglia style from the films and has loads of cool details. Couldron gear stick and wand indicators broom and potions on the roof, house colours inside and school logo on the front. It even has "HP" NUMBER PLATE! IT'S SO COOL!!

      Check it out:

Ps. I'm not great with technology so excuse quotes and spoiler boxes I was trying to upload a photo.
