What’s one scene, backstory, or character moment you wish had made it into the books? Bonus points if it would’ve wrecked us emotionally. I’m bored and need pain, thanks.

I spoke about this with some friends years ago, and now I state it here. I would really like to see a book series done on the founding of Hogwarts itself, with the four founders as the main cast.

I feel this is especially necessary due to the controversy surrounding Salazar Slytherin's departure. What was the reason Salazar Slytherin didn't want muggleborns at the school? Was his bias a product of pureblood elitist egoism, or did it arise as a result of pragmatic concerns regarding the times they lived in, as well as the politics of muggle/wizard relations?

Personally, I am leaning towards the latter, because I find it hard to believe that someone who's cunning is as legendary as Salazar Slytherin's would honestly be stupid enough to endorse the views expounded by future Slytherins.

So yes, a book series on the founding of Hogwarts would be a real treasure to the world of Harry Potter as a whole, and I say we petition for this to happen as soon as possible.

- We all know Peter was no good, no one likes that guy, moving on.

- Lupin was, overall, a good guy. He fought for what was right, protected his loved ones and always put others first. I like to think he was the mom-friend, desperately trying (though ultimately failing) to keep the others out of trouble. However, he isn't innocent. He was a mischievous lil pup, too. He still participated in those pranks and, although I like to believe it, it was never really confirmed he tried to stop his friends or keep them from doing something dangerous (though he probably tried).

- James Potter was a bully. There, I said it. I'll give it to you: he did save his enemy's life (the werewolf prank on Snape), but still: he was intimidating, arrogant, impulsive and gives me condescending gaslighter vibes. Because of him, his girlfriend (God knows why they got together; she HATED him) lost her best friend. If he'd stopped the bullying, Lily would've been able to help Snape and "fix" him. I don't like this guy at all, but he is good at heart. He took Sirius in, he became an Animagus just to accompany his troubled friend, ... Let's just say good people can do bad stuff too, in this case: out of hate and jealousy.

- The worst one: Sirius Black.

Don't get me wrong: I LOVE godfather Sirius. I would want to have him as my cool uncle or just my buddy. 

BUT: I would NEVER befriend teenage Sirius.

I know he's been through a lot, but that's no reason to be a reckless, empathy-lacking douche. He led Snape straight to his death by telling him to follow Remus. It is possible he didn't know if Snape would actually do it, but when he did, he didn't do anything to stop him. Imagine if Remus would have killed Snape. He would be swallowed by guilt until he gets executed. He never thinks about the consequences of his actions and the reason why he does them.

His own recklessness ultimately caused his death.

Not to mention they were all highly favored by Dumbledore just because they were popular pranksters and happened to be in Gryffindor.
